North Central Education Foundation Awards 160 Teachers With Classroom Grants
The North Central Education Foundation (NCEF) Board is excited to announce they have partnered with community organizations to present more NCEF Teacher Classroom Grant awards than ever in 2022.
The grant awards were made possible because of the generous donations of organizations, businesses and individuals who have acknowledged the challenges teachers have faced in recent years. These resolute teachers are determined to continue teaching, despite all the difficulties that have resulted from two plus years of Covid impacts. It is a blessing to see how they have adapted to requirements and have been able to incorporate new methods of teaching to engage their students in learning.
During this 13th year of teacher grant awards, 160 teachers from four counties were presented with grant awards in the categories of:
- History/Social Studies funded by 9/11 Spirit of America Memorial
- Cultural Awareness funded by Washington Association of Grant Managers
- Financial Education funded by the Young Adult Consumer Education Trust (YACET)
- Social Studies/Geology/Environmental funded by Friends of Lower Grand Coulee (FLGC)
- Wellness/Social Emotional/Health, funded by Confluence Health/Community Foundation of NCW Community Partnership Grant and individual adoptions
- Literacy funded by individual adoptions
- Music/Arts provided by Woods Family Music & Arts Fund
- STEAM/STEM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) provided by North Cascades Bank, Confluence Health, Wenatchee Rotary and individual adoptions.
NCEF also received the most Teacher Classroom Class applications ever in 2022 – over 260. We regret we are not able to fund all of the applications, but the good news is these unfunded applications are available for “adoption.” They can be viewed on the NCEF website www.loveteachers.org
“I believe adopting a teacher grant is a wonderful and cost effective way to support our region’s students and schools in a more personal manner, by connecting with a specific teacher and grant request,” said Jeff Kimbell, NCEF Board member and longtime donor.
We are also pleased to announce that teachers in 24 out of the 29 school districts included in the North Central ESD region (Chelan, Douglas, Grant and Okanogan counties), as well as some private and charter schools, received grant awards this year.
The Foundation is working hard to make a difference in the future of the children in the North Central ESD region by providing teachers with opportunities to enrich their classroom environments. This is due to the past and present generosity of organizations like the North Cascades Bank, Woods Family Music & Arts Fund, Confluence Health, Community Foundation of NCW, Friends of Lower Grand Coulee, Young Adult Consumer
Education Trust (YACET), Wenatchee Rotary, Clear Risk Solutions, PlanMember Services, Chelan Douglas Land Trust, LASER Science/Pacific Science Center, Stemilt, Olive Garden, Sodexo and generous board members, ESD staff and community members who also donated to the fund.
