Classroom WISE and CIE-WISE
Classroom WISE (Well-Being Information and Strategies for Educators)
Classroom WISE (Well-Being Information and Strategies for Educators), is a FREE training series in mental health literacy for educators and other school personnel. The self-guided, online course is designed to help educators create safe and supportive learning environments, and to respond appropriately when mental health concerns become evident. The series incorporates numerous resources, including articles, links and videos. These can be accessed separately from the course, as well.
A downloadable Implementation Guide is available for school- or district-wide adoption of the strategies taught in Classroom WISE to promote well-being and support students experiencing distress. The time needed to complete these modules, which can be stopped and started as needed, is approximately five hours.
CIE-WISE (Cultural Inclusiveness and Equity WISE)
A companion to Classroom WISE is Cultural Inclusiveness and Equity WISE (CIE-Wise). CIE-WISE is a two-hour course that teaches school staff how inequities in education can impact student mental health.
Also FREE of charge, this course equips educators and other school personnel with equitable and culturally inclusive strategies to support students in distress as well as promoting well-being for all students.
Like Classroom WISE, the CIE-WISE series includes access to video libraries and collections of relevant resources. An informational flier for both programs is available here.
These training series were developed by the Mental Health Technology Transfer Center Network (MHTTC), in partnership with the National Center for School Mental Health (NCSMH) at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
