School Nurses Across the Region Recognized for a Variety of Accomplishments

Ephrata School Nurse Selected for the 2023 NASN Citizen Ambassador Program

Shellie Hansen, Ephrata School District school nurse, has been selected for the 2023 National Association of School Nurses (NASN) Citizen Ambassador Program to the United Arab Emirates. This event supports an international exchange of ideas for school nurses from the USA and UAE. Shellie will participate in one-on-one and group activities, tour K-12 schools and a university nursing program, and gain deeper insights in evidence-based school nursing practice. Discussions will focus on delivery of services for students with chronic health conditions, immunizations, data collection, health curriculum, and coordination of care with medical providers.

Liz Pray, Moses Lake School District school nurse and past president of School Nurse Organization of Washington (SNOW), has been elected to the NASN Board of Directors as the Washington State affiliate representative. The Board is composed of elected officers and one representative of each affiliate school nurse organization, serving as a NASN Director.
