On April 17, 2023 school districts in Okanogan County came together to celebrate and thank extraordinary certificated and classified individuals who give daily and unselfishly to the students in their schools.

The event was hosted by Tonasket School District as part of the annual Excellence in Education Awards program. The program was created in 1985 by the North Central Educational Service District (NCESD) as a way for districts to honor, recognize and say “thank you” to their dedicated staff.

The evening was one to remember with a buffet dinner courtesy of Tonasket Migrant Program and entertainment from the Bridgeport Band and Tonasket La Chispa Dancers. Districts also recognized the award recipients with a variety of video presentations.

Other districts around the region continue to celebrate their staff in a variety of ways. For example, Cascade School District celebrated their award recipients with a special dinner where the school board presented both individuals with a plaque.
