Each of these free resources includes translation of some or all materials into Spanish.
Choose You WA – Vaping & Tobacco Prevention
In 2023, the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) launched the statewide vaping and commercial tobacco prevention campaign, Choose You, to educate youth about the risks of using vapes and spotlight quitting resources available. Informed by direct input from youth across the state, the campaign describes a range of health impacts and other consequences caused by vaping and commercial tobacco use: vaping’s impact on mental health, hobbies and other activities, relationships, physical health, and brain chemistry, as well as addiction, costs, and industry targeting.
You Can WA – Cannabis Prevention
In 2018, the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) launched You Can, the statewide cannabis prevention and education campaign to educate youth (ages 12-17) about the health effects and consequences of using cannabis. Informed by audience research and insights from partners, the campaign has evolved to include a focus on enhancing protective factors and increasing resilience to help youth resist drugs. Materials now also promote healthy coping skills, emotion regulation, and strategies for developing supportive relationships.
WA Friends For Life – Opioid & Overdose Prevention
Provides toolkits full of free resources for parents and for prevention partners (like school personnel) to raise youth awareness about illicit fentanyl and to end opioid overdose deaths in Washington state. Education materials are also available. A recorded webinar provides an overview of the Friends for Life campaign materials.
