Mental Health America (MHA): May is Mental Health Month

Mental Health America started Mental Health Month in 1949. Each year, the non-profit organization creates and releases a Mental Health Month toolkit, including:

  • A May 2023 calendar, 31 Ways to Make the World Around You Work for Your Mental Health, with simple, inexpensive suggestions to try on each day
  • Activities
  • Resources for social and other media
  • Printable materials
    • Posters
    • Handouts
    • Worksheets
  • Many links to additional resources

The 2023 theme of Mental Health Month is Look Around, Look Within.

To Look Around refers to considering housing stability, home environment, community connections and access to nature.

The toolkit contains numerous practical suggestions for improving environmental health, safety and comfort.

To Look Within could entail using one of MHA’s various online screening tools.
