Overview
C.A.R.E. (for Compassionate Assessment and Response in Education) is youth suicide prevention and intervention training for student support professionals.
What this training does:
– Provide scripts and strategies for appropriate interventions,
– Share resources for responding if a member of the school community dies by suicide,
– Reinforce the importance of self-care while doing this important and difficult work, and
– Use scenarios including cultural considerations to apply and discuss approaches.
The CARE curriculum is approved by the Washington State Professional Educators Standard Board (PESB) to meet the training requirement for all E.S.A. certificate holders. NCESD has been approved by PESB to provide this training as of Nov 2022 until Oct 2025.
