Overview
This training equips educators with essential knowledge and strategies to support students impacted by trauma. Participants will learn what trauma is, the effects of adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and how these experiences manifest in student’s behavior and learning. The session will cover risk and protective factors, warning signs of trauma, and the importance of providing culturally responsive support that respects students’ diverse backgrounds. Educators will explore classroom management strategies to create a safe, structured, and predictable environment, including clear expectations, visual schedules, and de-escalation techniques.
By the end of this session, educators will have actionable strategies to create classrooms where all students, especially those who have experienced trauma, feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. Participants will leave with practical tools to apply immediately in their practice.
