North Central Education Foundation receives award

The North Central Education Foundation (NCEF) was honored May 16, 2019, with a Community Leadership Award by the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) at the annual Superintendent Advisory Committee (SAC) SAC/WASA Award Luncheon held at Pybus Market in Wenatchee.

NCEF, which was formed in 2008, was nominated by Dr. Michelle Price, North Central Educational Service District Superintendent, for their work that benefits teachers and students in the four counties served by NCESD.  NCEF provides small classroom grants to teachers who often spend money from their own pockets to purchase classroom supplies and enhancements to enrich student learning.  NCEF has presented over 500 Teacher Classroom Grants in the amount of $300 since the awards first began in 2010, thanks to the generous donations of organizations such as North Cascades Bank, Confluence Health, Woods Family Arts & Music Fund, Community Foundation of North Central Washington, Chelan-Douglas Land Trust, Young Adult Consumer Education Trust (YACET) and Wenatchee Rotary.

Dr. Price commented, “It has been inspirational to see, in just ten short years, the Foundation grow from giving out eight grants in our region to giving out over 100 grants in 2018.  We are fortunate to have generous corporate sponsors with a heart for education and Foundation Board members who are willing to work hard, participate and share the passion for the work.”

The North Central Education Foundation is part of and supported by the North Central Educational Service District, a state agency that coordinates educational programs and supports school districts for 29 districts in the region.
